Who I Am

I am a senior platform architect with over 30 years of experience in software engineering, specializing in embedded and IoT systems. My work focuses on bridging the gap between business goals and technical implementation — translating stakeholder requirements into robust, maintainable architectures that deliver lasting value.

I believe in iterative, purpose-driven development: small, deliberate steps that produce usable intermediate results rather than rushing toward a distant endpoint. With each iteration, the understanding of actual needs and constraints deepens. Simplicity, in this view, is not a shortcut — it is the outcome of continuous reflection, honest communication, and the ability to distinguish the essential from the incidental.

Creator of the open-source tpo42 framework for Technical Product Owners, connecting req42 (requirements engineering) with arc42 (architecture documentation). Documentation as Code with docToolchain.

  • NetBSD Committer since 2008 — cross-platform package maintenance (pkgsrc), security patch management, porting across AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, macOS, Windows, and the BSDs.

  • CPAN Author (2007—​2022) — Perl modules including SQL::Statement, Hash::MoreUtils, DBI::Test. API documentation, test automation, CI.

  • Yocto / OpenEmbedded Contributor (2015—​present) — packages for OE-Core, custom layers for Perl modules (meta-cpan), system init (meta-sysinit), provisioning and OTA updates (meta-prd-flash).

  • tpo42 Framework Initiative (2025—​present) — open-source framework for strategic business-technical integration, community building, conference talks.
